The tube

the underground / the metro的意思。去过伦敦的人都知道这个俚语，the tube对英国人来说就是地铁的意思。但英国人从来不说the underground或 the metro,因为在外形上伦敦地铁很像隧道。所以如果你去伦敦旅行，一定要这么问：where is the tube station?

local

I am just popping down to my local.这是什么意思呢?
其实这是表示我刚去小酒馆遛一遛。means: the local pub。酒吧文化是英国非常重要的一部分，
所以使用起这个俚语就很接地气啦。比如:
Oh yeah!We just met in my local.(哦是的，我们刚在酒馆见过。)大家就知道你说的是当地的小酒馆了。

thrash

beat的意思。此处不是指在体力上的“打败”，而是指在游戏中的。比如说打牌，就可以说：I absolutely thrashed him. 意思是我打败了他。

Iffy

incorrect/not quite right的意思。例如：Oh no, that sounds a bit iffy. 是什么意思呢?
iffy指的是“什么东西很可疑”。例如：
---Lucy, I've just received an email and a really rich prince wants to give me 200 million pounds. (露西，我刚收到一封邮件，说一个很富有的王子要给我2亿英镑。)
---Oh, mum. That's sounds a little bit iffy. (噢，妈妈，这听起来很可疑，不能信。)

sknit

I bought all this new camera equipment，and now I'm totally skint.
我新买了一整套摄影器材。我没钱了。skint指的是穷光蛋。broke/penniless的意思。如果有人约你出去，但你因为钱不够去不了，
这时你就可以说：I'm skint。
